My wife and I wanted to go out for a date night, so we decided to give Haywire's rooftop bar a try.
Seating on the roof is first-come, first-serve, so you're going to have to lurk around and wait for something to open up if you're coming during a busy time, like a Friday night. Or get lucky, which was the route we took - there was a large table on the far side by the bathrooms that had only one chair, and no one was sitting there. We commandeered a second chair from the bar, and had a great spot to sit.
I tried their version of a Long Island Iced Tea, which is frozen, and fairly delicious. My wife tried the margherita, which was also very good. Drink prices were fair for an upscale place.
One cool feature is that you have a great view of the Legacy Hall stage from the roof, and when we came there was a band playing. We got to enjoy the live music without having tickets to the show, so that was a huge plus.
After some drinks, we dug into the food menu. I tried the chicken fried steak, and it was fantastic. The mashed potatoes were whipped and creamy, and it was very good all-around.
My wife had a burger, and she really enjoyed it.
Everything we ordered was hot and fresh - other than the drinks, of course. Despite it being a busy night, our waitress was fairly responsive with getting our orders and bringing things out.
Bathrooms were clean and spacious. Atmosphere had a cowboy vibe, and everything was very classy. It was a busy night, but it never felt too crowded. We had a ton of fun.
They had a military discount, too.
Overall, Haywire was a really good experience. It's fairly priced for the quality of the food, and I'd definitely recommend it for a date night or going out with a group of friends. Fun place!
