If you want the charm of old school Italian-American that is no frills and feels like a cozy hole-in-the-wall, Al Dente is where it's at. The atmosphere is so intimate with its low lighting and they treat guests like family. The pasta definitely tastes house made. The highlight is definitely the quality of their Marinara sauce that is mellow, buttery and not astringent whatsoever. Is it the best of the North End? Taste wise, it's very traditional and classic. No pizzaz, just good 'ol fashioned warm hug from your nonna kind of Italian. Which, is not a bad thing! But if you want something new, fresh, and enticing, this isn't for you. This is more of comfort food in the most sincere of ways. Very homemade and bright. Delicious!
This is everything I could have hoped for visiting little Italy in Boston. The gentleman who greeted and check on us, I’m assuming the owner, was very nice and made us feel special. The wait staff were very attentive and we never lacked for anything. Our food was fantastic and this felt like having a meal at my Italian grandpa-in-laws kitchen. 5 stars for everything!
Had the Gnocci Aldente with sausage and it was delicious, definitely fresh gnocchi. Friendly service as well. Glad I chose Aldente among the numerous options for Italian cuisine in the North End.
Absolutely a hidden gem. I have eaten alot of Italian food in my life. This was the best sauce and food I have ever eaten. We had mussels and chicken parmigiana. It was outrageous. Not to mention the service was great. The best was they have air conditioning. You must eat here!!! Make a reservation.
Traveled up to the north end and wanted to find a low key place to eat. The hostess and server were very friendly and attentive. Everything ordered came out promptly and fresh. All dishes were very tasty and the gnocchi was superb. Will be returning and would recommend.
