This gastropub has an interesting rustic-chic interior that adds to its vibe. It was our first time visiting, so we weren’t sure where to park at first. Turns out, they have four parking spots located behind the restaurant. One thing also to note is that you need to place your order at the bar. We tried the French Omelette and the Eggs Benedict. If you’re avoiding meat, the omelette is a good option. It’s creamy and cheesy. The menu mentioned the omelette comes topped with caviar, but mine dish didn’t, which was a little disappointing. The Eggs Benedict, on the other hand, was well-cooked and tasty.
This is one of our favorite places because of the delicious food and creative cocktails. We like the mussels, burgers, fries, and many other items on the menu. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. When we were there the Olympics were being shown on a big projection screen. The Hyde Park Theatre is nearby if you are looking for something else to do after grabbing a bite or drink.
Excellent selection of beer. We also enjoyed the food. Great service, friendly people. Loved it.
Had a positively absurd experience when we went last time. My wife and I + another couple, all professionals in our 30's, came for dinner and cocktails on a Saturday evening. After the appetizers, a couple of us placed orders for our third drink. When we did so, our server hesitated and inquired how we were getting home.... To be clear, we were not being rowdy, or loud, or boisterous in the slightest. While we found her question was rather rude and out of pocket, it may have come from a good place so we let it slide. We explained that we had separate Ubers scheduled and there was no friction in this interaction minus all of us raising our eyebrows at each other after she left, presumably to input the rest of our orders. The issue was, our server flat out refused to serve us drinks beyond that point, and practically refused to come to our table. Our entrees were dropped off by another server while our original server continued managing her section around us. No soft drink refills, no check-ins, nothing. Finally I took my credit card and had to walk her down and tersely told her to clear all 4 of us out, because we'd been done for 15 minutes and were tired of waiting. It was the first time in my 32 years that I've written ZERO.00 on a tip line. Beyond this absurd service experience, the atmosphere is nice however the food is rather thin. Few menu options, and portions tend to be rather small especially for the prices. Not a great place to get a hearty meal at all. I told my wife after this I wasn't interested in returning.
I had been excited all day when I heard there was a place for escargot dumplings. Having had escargot before and loving it, I couldn’t wait to try this unique dish. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a big disappointment. The dumplings tasted like soap, and though I ate half of them out of denial, I probably should have listened to the reviews that mentioned this place has declined. It’s a real letdown, especially because where else would you find escargot dumplings? The steak tartare, while not as fresh as another review had claimed, still tasted delicious. The saving grace was using the soft bread from the escargot plate to dip into the rich, flavorful oil from the dumplings. Paired with the relish and raw egg, it all blended together into a wonderful combination. Despite some letdowns, the staff there is incredibly friendly and make great conversation. The interior is also very intimate with the bar counter right as you enter and picnic style tables in dim lighting off to the back- a great place to just chill. The prices are hefty but I recomend giving it a try. Just make sure to park next door where there is parking for all the shops nearby.
