We had our wedding anniversary dinner at Mercury. From making the reservation to the end of our meal it was great. The food was delicious. The service, exceptional. Piano player is the frosting on the came! The atmosphere was beautiful. Great views! Highly recommend!
Yes, yes, yes!! Location is a little weird as it is on the 9th floor of an office building. But once you enter, you forget you’re in an office building at all! The place is pretty “posh” (live piano with vocalist, dim lighting ambience, well-dressed hostess, etc) - However, since we visited from out of state and this was a last-minute reservation, we were in jeans. Husband was in a button-up flannel and thank Goodness I had packed a simple V-neck black shirt! We were seated by a window overlooking the city. We got water and menus immediately (thanks, Jafar!) and our waitress wasn’t too far behind. Everything came out in a VERY timely fashion and was EXCELLENT! Ceviche appetizer Hand cut Ribeye w/crab enhancement Whipped potatoes Chicken (blackened) pasta 2 Jafars (mixed drink) 1 Mexican Mule 1 Corona Bread w/garlic butter Blueberry cheesecake Chocolate cake w/ice cream Total: $217 not including tip The ONLY thing Husband would not recommend would be the portion of the crab enhancement. He said it was good, but wished there was a little more for the price. FLAVOR WAS ON POINT! With EVERYTHING! When the first bite makes you roll your eyes and nod your head … Ima leave that right there!! Table bread was fresh sourdough with a garlic butter made in-house. OMG. That is all. OMG. Our server was amazing!! Even though the ambience is posh, the atmosphere is way more laid back. We joked and laughed with our server and she was absolutely the best! Overall, HIGHLY recommend if you’re in Arlington or the surrounding areas!!
I took a small group of employees and spouses out to celebrate a year of hard work and was embarrassed that I chose Mercury Chophouse. The service was absolutely awful. We had a table of 10 people and the dining room was about 50% full. You would think service would be great, but it wasn't. We waited long periods between drink orders, appetizers, food, etc. To give you an idea, reservation was 6:30 and we did not leave until after 10:30. One waiter brought appetizers to the table and half the food slid off the plate as he set it down and he did nothing, just kept moving along. The salad i ordered never arrived until i could ask about it when others were nearly done with their salads / appetizers. Two of our guests had incorrect dinners delivered to them and they both had to wait for their correct dishes to be prepared. On top of that, the corrected steak dish came out and it was absolutely charred and crispy. Embarrassing for a steakhouse to even plate something like that. Her final, corrected dish was served around 3+ hours after we sat and it was so late she just had it boxed up to take home. Because of the long waits, drinks continued to get ordered and the bill was a bit higher than if we spent about 2 hours for a nice dinner. I can't believe this place has any good reviews based on our experience here. I spent over $2,300 here and would expect much better service for this, especially when the entire dining room was half full the entire time we were there. I will say the food that did get brought out correctly, was pretty good. However I would suggest having a conversation with your wait staff when ordering steak. My medium ribeye was very thin and cooked well, when ordered as medium. I'm sorry I picked Mercury to celebrate with our employee group.
You will not find a better restaurant in Arlington. Let’s start from the beginning. As you walk through the door, you are greeted by attentive hosts and the light singing and piano music from their in house musician. You are then walked to your table where there is no wait time in getting service. You cannot go wrong with any drink made by the fabulous bartender. For dinner, my husband had the elk which was cooked to perfection chosen by his liking. I had the filet and added on a crab cake. The filet was robust with flavor and probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. There was so much crab meat in the crab cake as well, so I highly recommend. For sides we had burgundy mushrooms which were divine, as well as the lobster mac and cheese. Let’s talk about this buttery melt in your mouth lobster mac and cheese. Actually, let’s not talk about it, ORDER IT. This resultant experience was life changing in so many outstanding ways. Do not pass this place up if you are ever in Arlington!
Outstanding EVERY TIME. This is my favorite place to celebrate, excellent food, excellent service and atmosphere. Our waiter was the legend Jafar, you must have the drink they named after him, perfect. The best of the best, salute.
